The schedule means there is no schedule

Saturday, Aug 12th was the day we decided to head back to Agios and see what’s happening in town. We also wanted to shower and do some laundry so we packed up our things to jump on the 4 o’clock water taxi. When we got to the pier we were told the 4 o’clock water taxi left at 3. We were told that was the last water taxi for the day. Hahahaha. OK! No worries. Billy, Kosta, Diane, Sam and Louie also missed it. So we did the next best thing. We sat at the Taverna and relaxed until the sun cooled down. We walked back to the house at 6 and as we arrived back at the house the boat came back at 7pm. Once again, we all missed it! One more night in Faros for us but the rest of the crew decided to walk for an hour and a half until someone picked them up and drove them down from Perdthiki. Rest assured we did NOT miss the morning water taxi!

Sunday Aug 13th

Back to civilization (or close to it) with flushing toilets and a real bath! We caught the first water taxi out and went right to a restaurant for some eggs and coffee. We washed our clothes and bathed and felt so much better. The evening was wonderful as mom, Mike, Koula and I took another water taxi to Therma for dinner. We ate at Mike’s Foodshop and I had veal parmasean and mom had a souvlaki. We explored the area and saw the family property which actually is an entire mountainside. What a view! Unfortunately it was never developed but was parceled out to the 11 siblings. I am sure someone just claimed it as theirs and has since developed a stone mountainside. I would love to see it again someday. Property rights on the island are a much different situation then what we know in the states. I won’t dive into that, but I hope someone is enjoying it.

We came back to Agios later in the evening and sat at a cafenio to have an evening coffee. Of course I run into someone from my past, specifically the uncle of the man I married that took me to California. The man that was the reason I started this blog. Apparently my ex mother in-law had just arrived to the island and I thought to myself “I waited 15 years to come back to Greece and she has to be here the exact same time as me?!” Okay then! I honestly laughed. I am sure we will have a conversation at some point. Everyday is an adventure!
