Memory eternal as we say in Greek. On this day seven years ago mom left us to join dad in that eternal place. A place in another dimension where the kings and queens find eternal happiness. Those of us left behind feel the loss but know their kingdom is beautiful and that is what gives me peace. I feel her presence all the time and I wanted to acknowledge this day and share my favorite picture of us. The photo is relevant to this latest story of our trip to Greece as we attended a wedding upon our return to the states.
Once I finish this story of our trip I will be challenging myself to write their love story. Before mom “fell asleep” she instructed me to bury her with all the love letters dad wrote to her. I collected hundreds of them and they went with her. As I emptied out the house I found more of them during the time of when they first met and through his time away as he served our country and through the arrival of their first child. People need to hear that this kind of love is real and it will be my most important scribe of my life because I want to honor them in the most beautiful way.
For now, this day is for mom and to thank her for everything she taught. Thank you for the lessons of a lifetime and thank you for saying “Let’s go to Greece together.”
